Cars in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
